Crtical analysis of MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDERETTE : -

SHORT AND QUICK REVISION OF MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDERETTE: -

My beautiful launderette is screenplay written by Hanif Kureshi. Hanif Kureshi is a second-generation Pakistani immigrant whose ancestors migrated to Britain from Pakistan. the story is also based on the same migration in which the main character of novel Omar is a second-generation immigrant whose grandfather migrated to Britain in the earlier times. the novel shows the problems faced by the immigrants.
My beautiful launderette was the first screenplay of Hanif Kureshi. It covers on a few of the challenges that minority groups experience. Through the presentation of many forms of emotional attachment and the battle to find one's position in society, it clings to issues with gender identification, class, and race. The main themes of the book are "love," "success," and "cultural norms of behavior." These are the main themes due to many conflicts rises with time.
the novel shows the different-different aspects of the life and the problems of the life faced by the immigrants. Omar was the son of Hussein who use to drink and smoke a lot that's why Omar was forced to take care of his family which shows a sense of responsibility. Omar was a second-generation Pakistani immigrant so it was hard to have good job easily in Britain so he started to work at his father's friend laundry whose name was Naseer who was successful businessman. By his hard work, the laundry became famous and he was having a good income.  He did this only with the help of his friend Johnny who was Whiteman, it shows the bond of friendship they had as being of different-2 community and races they were good friends and very impressively which shows the intercultures. Not only this but also their friend Salim was also helping them as Omar and Johnny used to transport/ sends the drugs sent by Salim to them. all the three was having good terms in their business as their friendship was also good.

Omar was the son of Pakistani father and the British mother which shows the hybridity of two different culture and race. the novel also shows the love of Omar towards Tania for whom he was collecting money so that he can marry her and on the other hand Omar and Johnny was having sexual affairs which shows that to fulfil their sexual demands and emotional needs, they were in relation with each other. novel also shows the extra marital affair of Tania's father Naseer and Rachel which was never liked and accepted by the Tania.
Omar's achievement in his working-class environment is greatly aided by the love and support of his family, which is backed equally strongly by his boyfriend Johnny. He wouldn't have been able to fix the launderette without Johnny. His success may also be attributed to Pakistan's social ethic, which dictates that family members should always be given the opportunity to work.

All of the characters are members of a subculture where they have to work harder than someone from the middle class to fit in. They must contend with several restrictions and societal issues. These difficult lifestyles are shown in "My Beautiful Launderette" without making the viewer feel anything.
